Sharing Contracts with External Parties
Share contracts with clients, partners, or other external parties who don't have a dashboard account. You can publish a template so anyone with the link can start a new contract, or share one specific contract with one person. Either way, the external filler can only submit — they can't finalize or sign.

Template public access
Make a template publicly accessible so anyone with the link can fill in a new contract:
- Open the template and toggle Public Access on.
- Optionally set a password to restrict access.
- Copy the public link to share.
Every visitor who opens the link gets their own new contract to fill in. Useful for intake forms, onboarding agreements, or any template you want many people to complete independently.
You can also embed the public form directly on your own website with an iframe — see Managing contract templates for the embed snippet.
External filler experience
This is what the recipient sees, step by step:
- Password gate — if a password is set, the filler enters it. A session is created (valid for 4 hours).
- Start screen — shows the template name, description, and a summary of what needs to be filled in.
- Fill form — the filler sees all fields and fills them in. An AI chat assistant helps with questions.
- Submit — the filler clicks Submit. The contract moves to Submitted status for your review.
Sessions, resume, and expiry
- 4-hour session. After the password gate, the filler's session stays valid for 4 hours.
- Refresh-safe. Reloading the page (F5) keeps the same session and the values entered so far — the filler doesn't lose progress or have to re-enter the password.
- Re-authentication on expiry. Once the 4 hours pass, the session expires and the filler is asked for the password again before continuing.
Daily limits
To protect public links from abuse, there is a daily per-IP limit on how many times a public form can be opened or submitted from the same address. Regular fillers won't hit it; it only stops automated or bulk abuse.
